A young woman living in New Jersey receives a threatening phone call from a man who knows her name and address claiming that he will cut off her fingers if she doesn’t listen to him. The police track the number of the call to an abandoned house in Newport, Rhode Island where she goes to investigate. There, she meets Shirley Cooper, who claims to have had the same experience with the same caller. Shirley gives her contact details and tells her to call him back. Later, the chief of police arrives at the house and tells Shirley that they have located who she is looking for. He then informs her that she needs to go to a phone booth nearby and leave a message for the man who called her that he will be killed if she doesn’t stop calling him. Shocked by this, Shirley looks up the man’s name for herself and sees he lives nearby in a neighboring neighborhood. She calls him to tell him what has happened, but he hangs up on her when he realizes it’s his number being called from a payphone in front of his house. Meanwhile, the young woman arrives at a restaurant and calls a number she found in a phone book that was wrapped around her new phone. The man on the other end of the call, Bobby, tells her that he thinks he knows who called her and offers to help her. He asks for her name before telling her to leave the number of a payphone near where she is staying. She agrees to do so and hangs up. Bobby heads out with his gun to investigate who exactly has been calling people from his old phone which he hasn’t used in years. After going to the house where the woman from before lives, he discovers that she is in fact a married woman named Rachael. He decides not to shoot her and calls her, but she refuses to answer his calls though she does answer hers. He leaves a message on the answering machine and drives over to her house once more. Meanwhile, Shirley is planning on leaving town with Shirley’s husband, Brian. They arrive at their beach-side cottage and find that one of Bobby’s debit cards has been used at a nearby restaurant. He explains that this was his wallet and he did not put it in the car because he had just gotten home from work and did not want it stolen. cfa1e77820
